Finding Your Archetype.

The name James comes from the Latin Iacomus or Iacobus, a form of the Hebrew name Jacob, meaning "supplanter" or "he who follows the heel," but the Latin form itself can also suggest "may God protect" or "he who controls his actions".The Scotttish Tradition represented also by the continuing Royal Stuart and Jacobite heritage, always had a significantly different attitude, in comparison with the English (Anglo-British, Anglo-English) towards black people of African origin, whom they embraced without the slightest racial discrimination.

The Jacobites were supporters of the exiled Stuart monarchs (King James II and his descendants) who aimed to restore them to the thrones of England, Scotland, and Ireland after the 1688 Glorious Revolution, with the movement defined by a series of failed rebellions (Risings) in the 18th century, culminating in 1745-46 under Bonnie Prince Charlie, ultimately ending the Stuart claim and leading to harsh crackdowns in the Scottish Highlands.

Their name comes from the Latin Jacobus (James), and they were often identified by the white rose emblem, attracting Catholics, Tories, and Highlanders who opposed the Protestant Hanoverian succession and believed in divine right.It entered English through Old French from the Biblical Iacobus (Greek Iakobos) and is a classic name linked to biblical figures like the apostles and Christ' brother.

Biblically, the name James comes from the Hebrew Yaakov, meaning "supplanter" or "holder/grabber of the heel," reflecting the Old Testament patriarch Jacob who was born holding Esau's heel.

Akobi (or Akọ́bí) primarily means "first born" or "first child" in the Yoruba language, a West African language, stemming from a- (someone/something), kọ́kọ́ (first), and bí (give birth to).

Kingdom of Kongo (1390-1914)The historical flag of the Kingdom of Kongo features a red saltire (X-shaped cross) on a white background, a design introduced by Italian missionary Giovanni Cavazzi da Montecuccolo and reflecting Christian influence, though its exact historical use is debated.

This flag symbolizes the kingdom's deep connection to Christianity, with its "Four Moments of the Sun" motif representing life's cycle, while modern interpretations and merchandise keep this distinct symbol alive for the historic Central African realm.

Today, I acquired a very rare document. One of only 5 known copies, one at the National Archives in London, two at Harvard University, one at the University of Michigan, and mine. This document is important not only for the Proclamation itself, but perhaps because it is the earliest known use of the word "Pretender", by the English Government, to refer to James Francis Edward Stuart, James VIII and III of Great Britain.

James II died in exile at Saint‑Germain‑en‑Laye in France after suffering a brain haemorrhage in September 1701. James Francis Edward Stuart, known to Jacobites as James III and VIII was proclaimed king by his supporters immediately upon his father’s death in 1701, but this was never recognized by the English, Scottish, or later British governments, which already regarded William III (and then Anne) as the legitimate monarchs.

The year 1701 saw the Act of Settlement which was designed to secure the Protestant succession to the throne, and to strengthen the guarantees for ensuring the parliamentary system of government. At this time in parliament there was a strong Tory majority and they had strong disagreement with the Whigs who were campaigning enthusiastically for War with France.Parliament was prorogued in June and by September the King was being pressed with a case for an election - the second in one year. William relented to the pressure but refused to contemplate reconstruction of his ministry until after a new Parliament had been elected.

The issue of the royal prerogative had featured prominently in the session. Ministerial action against the Junto lords had demonstrated that foreign policy could no longer be regarded as a purely monarchical concern outside parliamentary supervision.

As the Proclamation states the King of France amongst others recognized James as King, the majority of the English Parliament did not. The XII Oracle collection doesn't ask you to choose. Each piece was designed to move between archetypes — because we are never just one thing.
